Boat Cottage Facilities

The 2 bedroom Cottage Sleeps 4.

1 double bedroom, and 1 twin room.

There is a well equipped kitchen with kettle, toaster, microwave, electric oven fridge and washing machine. Small freezer located in garden shed.

The living room has comfy sofas and dining room table and chairs. Old fashioned range with open fire and large tub of coal provided.

Downstairs bathroom with toilet, wash hand basin and bath with shower over.

Oil central heating.

Pretty cottage garden with flower beds and large lawn. Patio area with seating and small wildlife pond.

There is a low wall with a steep drop and small pond which makes this property unsuitable for small children.

Dogs welcome downstairs.

There is a charcoal BBQ.

All bed linen and towels are provided.

Large shed for bike storage.

Off road parking for one car, and further parking available on the roadside.

Llangynidr & The Surrounding Area

Llangynidr is a pretty village set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, nestling between the River Usk and Brecon and Monmouth Canal. There are 2 village pubs, the Red Lion and Coach and Horses, the latter only a 2 minute stroll away. The village shop at the end of the lane stocks all the basics.

Great Hill Walking

Great Walks on the doorstep. Tor y Foel mountain can be climbed directly from the cottage, and for those who wish to walk further, the peaks of the Brecon Beacons can all be reached from home.

Mountain Biking

For those on two wheels, the Taff Trail passes close by and the infamous Gap Track is on the doorstep. There are countless miles of fantastic mountain biking both in The Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains and several world class MTB trail centers within an hours drive.

Trail Running

For those of you who like to slip on a pair of trail shoes and get out there, you really are spolit for choice. There is everything you could hope for with the highest mountains in Southern Britain, miles of safe ridge running with stunning views, forestry, river and canal trail and everything in-between.

Horse Riding / Trekking

For those who wish to explore on horseback, Golden Castle riding stables on Llangattock hillside is a short drive away. Lovely people and well schooled horses.

If you are looking for an active get away then Boat Cottage is the ideal base. As outdoor people ourselves, with years of experience we would be happy to advise and recommend places to visit and play. Please feel free to get in touch.

Looking to Unwind

Sometimes you just need to get away and unwind and you can't get more relaxing then a gentle walk or boat trip on the canal.

Talybont on Usk is 4 miles away, easily reached along the canal. There are pretty waterfalls, a reservoir with fishing and lovely walks. The Star Inn voted Best Pub in Powys (numerous times) is a well known watering hole with lots of real ales.

10 miles away to the north is the market town of Brecon. With lots of lovely shops and supermarkets, theatre, independent cinema, leisure centre and swimming pool, it’s a great place to spend a day. Bike and boat hire are available here.

Hay on Wye is worth a visit. Famous for its bookshops and festival and also has some lovely boutique shops. It’s a 30 minute drive away.
